Village
Profile
Village
History
With
the arrival of the railroad in 1853, homes and businesses
were built in close proximity to the depot. Because
of this, the settlement became commonly known as
Livonia Station. By the year 1872, it had become
the largest village in the Livonia township. Livonia
Station was renamed Livonia on February 24, 1900.
Dog
Control
All
dogs must be licensed. (Click
HERE for more information on dog licensing.)
The
Village of Livonia has a leash law that requires
all dogs to be leashed or confined to an owner's
property. Dogs off the owner's property must be
equipped with a collar and leash of sufficient strength
to restrain the dog and the leash should not be
more than 8 feet long. A harness worn by a guide
dog for the blind is considered a suitable leash.
No
person shall harbor a continually howling or barking
dog if it unreasonably disturbs the peace. Complaints
should be directed to the Livingston County Dog
Control Office at 243-6740, located at 3386 Gypsy
Lane, Mt. Morris.
With
the exception of seeing-eye dogs, owners of dogs
are not permitted to allow the dog to enter public
buildings, restaurants, or stores; or damage public
buildings or property that does not belong to the
owner. Residents wishing to report stray dogs should
contact the Livingston County Dog Control Office
at 243-6740.

Parking
There
is restricted parking within the Village. Please observe the
appropriate signs. Overnight parking on Village streets is prohibited
from November 1st to April 1st, from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM. This allows
the DPW crew to clear the streets and sidewalks during and after a snow
event. Parking regulations are enforced. Village parking tickets may be
paid Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Village
Office, 36 Commercial Street, Livonia.
